Address the Practical Challenges of Remote Sanitation

Water supply and wastewater connections

DryFlush requires no flushing water or wastewater plumbing. Suitable privacy and hand hygiene facilities are still needed.

Liquid-cassette emptying and toilet chemicals

Waste is contained in a replaceable liner rather than a liquid cassette. No toilet chemicals are required for operation. Cartridge replacement and suitable waste disposal remain necessary.

Servicing logistics

Plan refill stock, charging, cleaning and replacement components around crew numbers and usage. DryFlush Australia can help assess requirements for a trial or deployment.

Mobile crews and changing locations

The portable unit can move between suitable locations. Purpose-designed mounting options are available for vehicles and mobile applications; suitability must be assessed for the installation.

Waste handling

Remove and securely close the used refill according to the manual. Follow the site’s handling procedures and agreed disposal arrangements, including relevant local requirements.

Toilet access close to crews

Provide practical toilet access near suitable work areas, helping reduce trips back to established amenities. Plan placement around crew access, privacy and hand hygiene.

Use → Flush → Twist → Encapsulate → Ready Again

After use, pressing the flush button activates the DryFlush cycle. The refill material mechanically twists to encapsulate the waste inside the liner. The system does this without water, toilet chemicals or a heat-sealing process. Once the cycle is complete, the toilet is ready for its next use.

15 powered flushes per cartridge

15 powered flushes per cartridge, with up to 60 individual uses when Pee Powder is used as directed. A use is one urination or bowel movement; a flush is the powered cycle that seals the liner. Multiple urine-only visits may occur before flushing. Flush after a bowel movement. Actual capacity depends on waste volume, toilet paper and flushing frequency. Remove and close the used cartridge according to the manual. Sealed waste requires suitable disposal under site, operator and local rules.

Practical Toilet Access for Every Crew Member

Private toilet access close to the work area can provide greater dignity and convenience for men and women working away from established amenities. In remote locations, suitable arrangements should also consider menstrual hygiene needs.

Suitable privacy, hand hygiene and routine cleaning arrangements should be maintained around the toilet to support practical day-to-day use.

Toilet paper and sanitary pads can be contained within the liner. Bulky items can reduce refill capacity, and sharps must not be placed inside the toilet. The toilet should be considered as part of a broader workplace amenities setup, rather than a complete amenities solution on its own.

Plan the Consumables Around the Operation

15 powered flushes per cartridge, with up to 60 individual uses when Pee Powder is used as directed. A use is one urination or bowel movement; a flush is the powered cycle that seals the liner. Multiple urine-only visits may occur before flushing. Flush after a bowel movement. Actual capacity depends on waste volume, toilet paper and flushing frequency.

Supplied with each new unit

  • Two refill cartridges: one installed and one spare.
  • One complimentary bottle of Pee Powder.
  • Removable 12V battery.
  • Battery cable.
  • Charger.
  • User manual.

Pee Powder is optional and is not required for the toilet to operate. Used as directed, it absorbs urine and supports multiple urine-only visits between flushes. Up to three urine-only visits followed by one bowel movement and a flush can allow up to four individual uses per flush. Always flush after a bowel movement.

For shared crew facilities, provide clear user instructions. DryFlush Australia can help plan refills around the expected utilisation, number of units and operational needs.

What Happens to the Waste?

Waste remains contained within the liner after each flush cycle. Once the refill is finished, the used refill is removed and closed according to the product instructions, then disposed of through the site’s agreed waste-management process. Disposal arrangements must follow the relevant site, operator and local requirements.
